Behavioral Medicine

We offer students opportunities to become actively involved in research protocols, including:

• data collection from children and adults
• data entry
• working with families
• weekly meetings to discuss ongoing research and the latest research

A commitment of 10 or more hours per week, per semester (regular academic year or summer) is necessary to earn 3 credit hours. In addition, you may gain research experience by volunteering.

Students interested in research hours or volunteering to help with data collection should contact the project coordinator of the specific research project or program.

Master's thesis and doctoral dissertation opportunities are available to graduate students. Students interested in completing a master's thesis or doctoral dissertation should contact us to obtain further information about graduate training.

Postdoctoral fellowships prepare young investigators for a career as an independent researcher, while providing opportunities to gain experience with both clinical- and laboratory-based research. Postdoctoral students get guidance as they develop research and grantmanship skills necessary to become a successful investigator. Our primary focus of research is the study of obesity and eating and activity behaviors. Researchers in our division have also focused on diabetes, psychological stress, asthma, feeding disorders, sleep disorders and issues associated with drug dependence.
