Overview

The Division of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo, is offering a one-year, funded research fellowship. This fellowship aims to provide the individual with valuable exposure to the field of plastic surgery, hands-on experience in clinical research and an opportunity to contribute to the advancement of the specialty. Fellow will work closely with faculty and residents in the plastic surgery residency program to support and enhance ongoing research initiatives.

Duration

One year (July 1–June 30)

Eligibility

Candidates must be currently enrolled in a U.S. medical school, in good standing and between their M3 and M4 years. They should have a strong interest in pursuing dedicated research time, particularly in plastic surgery. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work independently and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.

Duties

 Included, but not limited to: 

  • collaborations with PI and co-investigators to develop research protocols
  • conduct literature searches 
  • develop and maintain research databases
  • IRB approvals and communication
  • produce abstracts, manuscripts and poster presentations for submission/presentation at regional or national meetings
  • attend regional/national meetings (funding provided) as needed to support/present accepted research
  • attend/contribute to regularly scheduled departmental research meetings
