Unappreciated non-acidemic phenotypes of congenital proximal renal tubular acidosis: investigating the physiological role of NBCe1-B/C
I am interested in understanding the maladaptive responses that occur in response to acid-base disturbances. Specifically, I am focused on the acid-base transporter NBCe1-B, which is thought to be involved in the renal and cardiac responses to acidosis, but its role in these systems is largely unknown. My current research involves investigating an NBCe1-B knockout mouse model in order to determine the role of NBCe1-B in maintaining acid-base balance at the cellular and whole organism levels.
