Develop your customizable program

Each semester, you’ll attend scientific seminars that expose you to current basic science and clinical research.

Our customizable seminars are a key feature of our program. Each week, you’ll choose a different one-hour seminar to attend. These seminars — along with your capstone project — allow you to tailor our program to your needs; they give you the opportunity to pursue areas that align with your personal interests and identify new areas of interest.

Seminar Topics

  • Biochemistry
    5/8/24
Research in our department shares the common theme of understanding how living cells work at the molecular level.
  • Biomedical Informatics
    5/8/24
Our robust research enterprise has the potential to develop information systems that expand knowledge in the biomedical sciences and enhance health care processes.
  • Buffalo Protein Science Group
    5/8/24
Our research informs the starting points for better drug design, identifying new classes of anti-tumor agents, ways to fight opportunistic infections in AIDS patients, combating inflammation in arthritis and cardiovascular disease, and preventing bronchial infections in cystic fibrosis patients.
  • Clinical and Translational Science Institute
    5/8/24
CTSI Distinguished Seminars feature important topics in clinical and translational science presented by outstanding, and sometimes world-renowned, speakers.
  • Distinguished Lectures in Vision Science
    5/8/24
Our research leads to sight-preserving treatments for conditions and diseases such as age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and glaucoma. Our goal is to reduce visual impairment and improve the quality of life for people of all ages.
  • Medicine Grand Rounds
    5/8/24
Our research scientists and doctors have made important and internationally recognized contributions to medical science, including patents, discoveries, and treatment advances.
  • Microbiology & Immunology
    5/8/24
Our research tackles basic science problems related to emerging and familiar infectious diseases. In our laboratories, we engage you in collaborations to study many types of microbes — including significant human pathogens — and how they cause and advance infection. Our findings lend valuable insight to the development of new anti-microbial therapies.
  • Pharmacology & Toxicology
    5/8/24
Research in our department explores the mechanisms by which chemicals affect the human body, from hormones to medicines to environmental toxins. Our faculty take advantage of resources within and beyond our department to conduct wide-ranging, interdisciplinary collaborations using state-of-the-art techniques
  • Physiology & Biophysics
    5/8/24
The research mission of the department is to advance our understanding of how the cells, tissues, and organs of the body communicate and work together to maintain the body’s wellbeing and functional capacities during development, adulthood, and aging.
  • Pioneers in Neuroscience
    5/8/24
The series will interest scientists, clinicians and graduate trainees who study the biology and pathobiology of the nervous system, the brain and the sensory modalities.
