Each year, you’ll develop the skills, experiences, and confidence needed to reach your goals. You'll complete new milestones to help you explore interests, gain hands-on experience, and prepare for what’s next.

With support from UB’s resources, you won’t navigate the process alone.

  • Career Design Center: offers career design experiences, networking opportunities, and employer connections.
  • Career Design Studio: tools and resources for designing life after college.
  • Experiential Learning Network: a resource to help you apply your learning and customize your education with high-impact experiential learning. 
  • Big Interview: a free online video interviewing tool, to practice your interview style.

Junior Career Development Milestones

  • Participate in an internship, research experience, or volunteer opportunity
  • Pursue a leadership position in a club or organization you've joined
  • Update your resume regularly, and consider new skills and experiences
  • Continue building professional relationships with faculty
  • Join a professional society in your field of interest
  • Explore graduate schools and become familiar with admissions requirements
  • Research requirements for careers of interest by looking at job postings and identifying opportunities to fill skills gaps
  • Identify and meet a career mentor (e.g. someone who has the job you are working towards)
  • Practice interviewing skills with Big Interview
  • Draft application documents, like cover letters or personal statements
  • Develop your LinkedIn presence
