Plesur, Accessibility Awards Go to Jacobs School Faculty

Three Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences faculty members have been recognized by the University at Buffalo undergraduate Student Association for their commitment and dedication to students.
Hohle Receives Plesur Award
Thomas H. Hohle, PhD
Thomas H. Hohle, PhD, lecturer in the Department of Biochemistry, is one of the recipients of the Milton Plesur Excellence in Teaching Award.
The Milton Plesur Award — named for a beloved teacher and scholar in the Department of History who died in 1987 — recognizes commitment and dedication to students and quality of teaching.
Hohle earned his doctoral degree in biochemistry from the Jacobs School.
Stefanovic, Wen Honored
Filip Stefanovic, PhD
Filip Stefanovic, PhD, assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, and Xiaozhong Wen, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics, are recipients of the inaugural Accessibility Award.
Stefanovic earned his doctoral degree in biomedical engineering from McGill University.
Xiaozhong Wen, PhD
Wen earned his doctoral degree in epidemiology from Brown University.
The Accessibility Award honors outstanding professors who “go above and beyond to ensure the inclusiveness of all their students, regardless of their disabilities,” according to Arsh Issany, director of student affairs for the Student Association during the 2019-2020 school year.
Recipients of both awards were nominated and selected by students.
