Nine faculty members with a variety of clinical and research experience — representing five medical school departments — have joined the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences over the past several months.
Sarah J. Gibbons, MD, clinical assistant professor in the Department of Psychiatry, specializes in child and adolescent psychiatry.
She earned her medical degree from University College Dublin in Ireland, and her bachelor of science degree from Trinity College, University of Toronto.
She completed her fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry and her psychiatry residency at UB.
John M. Rutkowski, MD ’06, is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Urology.
Rutkowski earned his medical degree from UB.
Roderich E. Schwarz, MD, PhD, is a professor in the Department of Surgery.
His clinical interest is in pancreatic, hepatobiliary and upper GI tract cancer. His laboratory-based translational activities focus on experimental combination therapy of pancreatic and gastric cancer.
He worked at five National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer centers before taking a leadership role at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as co-director of the Liver and Pancreas Tumor Center. He also serves as professor of oncology in the Department of Surgical Oncology at Roswell Park.
Schwarz holds a medical degree and a doctoral degree from the Hannover Medical School in Germany.
Timothy M. Adams, MD, is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Surgery.
Richard C. Chou, MD, is an associate professor in the Department of Medicine.
Mark A. Falvo, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Surgery.
Kelsey A. Helak, MD, is a clinical instructor in the Department of Emergency Medicine.
Amit Malhotra, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine.
Sam J. Samuel, MD, is an assistant professor in the Department of Medicine.
