Lean

In 2018-2019, Tanya Biscardi successfully completed the UB Certified Lean Professional program.

A Lean organization understands customer value and focuses its key processes to continuously increase it. The ultimate goal is to provide perfect value to the customer through a perfect value creation process that has zero waste.

The Certified Lean Professional program, offered by the Center for Industrial Effectiveness at the University at Buffalo teaches participants about the Lean practices and methodologies.

Participants learn to identify and eliminate eight forms of waste, identify and improve value-added activities, reduce or eliminate non value-added activities and improve process flow and customer’s perception of value.

The five Principles of Lean Thinking are:

  1. Specify value in the eyes of the customer.
  2. Map the value stream and eliminate waste.
  3. Make value flow at pull of the customer.
  4. Involve and empower employees.
  5. Continually improve in pursuit of perfection.
