Hello everyone!
PsychSIGN is putting together a psychiatry-themed book club for the fall semester. Our first book will be The Quiet Room: A Journey Out of the Torment of Madness by Lori Schiller and Amanda Bennett.
The book follows a young woman’s experience living with severe schizophrenia and offers an intimate look at psychosis, treatment, and recovery. It’s a compelling read for anyone interested in psychiatry, mental health, patient experiences, or simply participating in a medical school book club.
We’re planning to meet sometime within the first few weeks of the semester (exact date and location TBD), but wanted to announce it now so anyone interested can pick up the book and do some reading while things are a little slower this summer.
When we meet, we’ll have an engaging discussion about the book and its themes alongside fellow medical students and physicians, providing an opportunity to explore different perspectives on mental illness, psychiatric care, and the patient experience.
If you’re interested in participating, please add your name to the sign-up sheet. We hope you’ll join us!
