Continuity Clinics

You will see patients once per week or several sessions per week during ambulatory block time at an assigned med-peds continuity clinic, where you will manage your own patients, supervised by faculty, throughout your training.

All clinics are supervised by dually-certified med-peds faculty and you will see both adult and pediatric patients.

You will retain the same clinic for the full four years of your training, which will enable you to develop your own panel of patients.

All of our med-peds clinics have achieved accreditation from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

You will be matched to one of three distinct sites based on the clinic’s needs and your skills:

Our ambulatory clinic, fully staffed with board-certified Internal Medicine-Pediatrics faculty, is home-base for the residency program.

Training

If Conventus is your continuity clinic site, you’ll train here approximately:

  • 1 day/week during PGY-1 year
  • 2 days/week during PGY-2, PGY-3, and PGY-4 year
  • 5 sessions (half-days) during all ambulatory block rotations

Evergreen Health Services

Our residents work with a diverse patient population at this Evergreen Health Services location on Hertel Avenue.

This office is part of Evergreen Health Services and serves the developmentally disabled population and also has a diverse population of all ages. Evergreen, as an organization, also serves patients with HIV and hepatitis C and provides LGBTQ+ care and substance abuse services at their other office locations. 

Overview

  • recognized as a model patient-centered medical home by the NCQA
  • features 20 exam rooms
  • serves North Buffalo neighborhoods
  • a Federally Qualified Health Center
  • residents will work in primary care, but other specialty care offered at this location include gynecology, and podiatry. Other services offered include on-site laboratory, pharmacy and care management
  • adjacent office services include physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, audiology, social work counseling. and dentistry

This office is an independent, physician-owned med-peds private practice serving families in Buffalo’s southtowns.

Overview

  • 9 exam rooms including a treatment room
  • Close proximity to Pediatric and Adolescent Urgent Care of WNY for after-hours pediatric care and Mercy Hospital of Buffalo, where we round on newborns in the nursery
  • 2 med-peds physicians and 3 physician assistants
  • Small practice brings benefit of closer supervision and personalized care for the whole family
  • Complete EKGs, pulmonary function testing, suture and staple removal, lead testing, and hemoglobin for children
  • Additional opportunities to learn suturing, skin biopsy techniques, abscess incision and drainage, treatment of dehydration with IV fluids, and administration of parenteral antibiotics
