Eight faculty members from the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences were among those honored for notable achievement and service at the 16th annual University at Buffalo Celebration of Faculty and Staff Academic Excellence.
Garwood Medical Devices, LLC, has been granted “Breakthrough Device” designation from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the company’s BioPrax device, a tool it is developing to help eliminate biofilm infections on prosthetic knee implants.

Anthony A. Campagnari, PhD, senior associate dean for research and graduate education, and professor of microbiology and immunology and medicine, has been named a SUNY Distinguished Professor, the highest faculty rank in the SUNY system.
James D. Bangs, PhD, has been named a fellow of the American Academy of Microbiology, an honorific leadership group within the American Society for Microbiology — the world’s oldest and largest life science organization.
