Mini-Medical School

A Community Service Program of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Adult learners at a mini med school session.

Mini Medical School is a community outreach program designed to provide an accessible and engaging introduction to various aspects of healthcare and medicine.

Our goal is to demystify medical concepts, promote health literacy, and inspire individuals to pursue careers in healthcare.

Since 1997, the Jacobs School Mini Med program has been providing the Western New York community with an inside look at the medical school experience through lectures on a wide variety of compelling medical subjects. The mission, set by its founder, Professor Harry Sultz, DDS, was to educate the community about medical science, medical practice, and the contributions of the Jacobs School clinicians and researchers. “Where People and Science Meet” was the slogan that captured the spirit of the program.

Program Objectives

  1. Education – To provide accessible, high-quality medical education to the general public, demystifying complex medical concepts and fostering health literacy.
  2. Community Engagement – To strengthen the bond between our medical institution and the local community by offering a unique learning opportunity.
  3. Empowerment – To empower individuals to make informed healthcare decisions for themselves and their families.
  4. Inspiration – To inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals by igniting an interest in medical science.
