Dr. Lerner leads the only prehospital node of PECARN and serves as Chair of the PECARN Steering Committee.
Her main research contributions have been in field and disaster triage. She led the development of the current national guideline for mass casualty triage and her research, which prospectively enrolled over 12,000 adults and 12,000 children treated by EMS, contributed to the current national field triage guidelines for trauma.
She has significant experience working with local, regional, and national governmental and nongovernmental agencies to assist in interpreting and translating EMS research into practice.

Dr. Clemency serves as director of the Summer Research program for Medical Students. He mentors medical students interested in Emergency Medicine Research as well as clinical participation in Emergency department.
His research focuses on all aspects of prehospital care, with a special interest in confirming or refuting existing paradigms.
Dr. Kyle J. Kelleran is a Research Scientist in the Department of Emergency Medicine in the Jacobs School of Medicine & Biomedical Sciences at the University at Buffalo. Dr. Kelleran has 10 years of experience as a firefighter and emergency medical technician. Dr. Kelleran also has over 10 years of experience in clinical, occupational, and first responder research. Dr. Kelleran has worked on research projects funded by the NIH, industry, and various health related organizations. He regularly publishes and presents both locally and nationally.

Dipesh Patel serves as the Research Manager for The Department of Emergency Medicine. Dipesh uses his expertise in Public health and business to help grow research infrastructure in the Department. He works with Principal Investigators to implement research projects, manage funded research portfolios, and guide the Department’s Research Coordinators. Dipesh is also the Department's data management and REDCap expert. He also serves as a Governing Councilor for the American Public Health Association’s Epidemiology Section.

Michelle Larimore assists the department with planning and implementing research. She is the Nodal Administrator of the Charlotte, Houston, and Milwaukee Research (CHaMP) Node of the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network (PECARN) and secretary for the PECARN network.
Anna-Kay earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from the University at Buffalo in 2019 and a Master of Arts degree in February 2021. While attending school, Anna-Kay was a Research Apprentice for an NIH-funded study at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. In this role, she abstracted data from patients’ medical records for epidemiological analyses. She also served as a Research Associate in the department of Emergency Medicine where she supported the research team by enrolling patients in faculty- initiated and industry-sponsored clinical studies within local Emergency Departments. In her new role as a Research Coordinator in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University at Buffalo, Anna-Kay coordinates multiple research studies. Anna-Kay is seeking admission to medical school, where she hopes to further develop her passion for research and practices that can improve health outcomes, including longevity, health span, and quality of life
Lucy Connery, MPH

Lucy Connery came to Buffalo in 2015 to attend Daemen College, where she earned her BS in Health Promotion, BA in Spanish, and her Master of Public Health degrees. Connery continued her career in public health at the Wellness Institute of Greater Buffalo & WNY, serving as Community Health Advocate, Associate Director, and Executive Director of the small non-profit. There, Connery launched multiple community health initiatives to promote regular physical activity, positive mental health practices, and improved quality of life in WNY. Currently, Lucy Connery works as Research/Outreach Coordinator in the University of Buffalo’s Department of Emergency Medicine, and serves as Co-Director of Partnerships and Sponsorship for the volunteer non-profit Board of Directors, Youth Non-Profit Professional Network of Greater Bflo.
Caleigh Loughran

Caleigh Loughran currently serves as program manager for New York MATTERS. She recently completed her bachelor’s degree in psychology at the University at Buffalo. While pursuing her degree, Caleigh gained experience in the medical field working as a patient care technician in an emergency department, a nursing assistant, and as a research assistant on a clinical research program. Caleigh plans to continue her education and attend medical school.

Chantazia came to Buffalo in 2013 to attend Daemen College, where she obtained a Bachelors in Health Promotion and a Masters in Public Health. With a public health background, Chantazia has experience working as a Pediatric Care Coordinator for a local health home agency. This experience has allowed her to engage in various community health settings. Chantazia also has management experience working as a Patient Experience Liaison at ECMC. Currently, Chantazia works as a WNY Regional Coordinator for New York MATTERS.
