Research/Basic Science Conference

This conference introduces you to research opportunities in our division and provides you a platform to present your own research and receive expert feedback.

During this conference you will:

  • learn how to prepare and present a scientific talk
  • learn how to design and write successful grants and other aspects of grantsmanship
  • gain an in-depth understanding of the scientific process

All of our faculty present their research at least once, which will help you determine your own research project during the first year of your fellowship.

As a second-year fellow, you will present twice: At the beginning of the year, you will discuss your proposed research, receiving feedback on the topic and your experimental approach. At the end of the year, you will share your results, receiving suggestions on how to publish them.

Other presenters in this series include UB faculty from related fields, such as microbiology.

Three times per month from September through May; once or twice per month from June through August.
