UBMD Sleep Medicine and Sleep & Wellness Centers, two of our community-based training sites, work in tandem to provide you with a comprehensive learning experience. You'll see the broad spectrum of sleep disorders at these sites.
At UBMD Sleep Medicine, our community-based clinical practice site, you will work alongside our faculty, all certified in sleep medicine, to learn about the diagnosis, management and treatment of sleep disorders.
You will gain experience providing longitudinal care at our continuity clinic. We will expose you to patients with a wide spectrum of sleep complaints.
Here, you will have the chance to interact with continuous positive airway pressure specialists, who can assist with patient care. You will receive weekly polysomnography instruction at this clinic.
Our Sleep & Wellness Centers site complements our UBMD Sleep Medicine site. We perform the full gamut of sleep testing at this center.
This site exposes you to community sleep support groups, and you will have opportunities to provide expertise at group discussions. The group meetings held at this site are attended by approximately 25 patients. These meetings alleviate the sense of isolation sleep disorder sufferers may experience. They enable your patients to provide peer support to each other while learning about coping mechanisms. Attending support meetings helps you understand sleep disorders from the patient perspective, making you a more rounded physician and equipping you to provide encouragement and support to your patients.
Our continuity clinic provides you with experience caring for patients over an extended period of time. Additionally, you will gain experience presenting topics to technical staff at this center.
This site, which is accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, is the oldest community-based sleep lab in Western New York.
