How to Apply

Our rigorous training program is competitive and selective; nearly 25 physicians apply each year, but we can accept only one.

Submitting Your Application

Apply to our fellowship through SF Match, which facilitates the entire application and selection process.

SF Match will gather your application and related documents.

Application Timeline

Important dates — application registration, deadline for application submission, personal interview date and notification of match results — are dependent on SF Match’s calendar each year.

Eligibility

To apply for our program, you must:

  • possess a medical license as an MD or DO
  • be eligible for a New York state training certificate or permanent medical license
  • have successfully completed five years of postgraduate training by the time you enter our program
  • be a graduate of an ACGME-accredited residency program in the U.S. or Canada
  • hold U.S. citizenship, permanent residency or a J-1 or H-1B visa; learn more about UB immigration services

Application Requirements

Visit SF Match to find out which documents you’re required to submit during the application process.

Interviews

You’ll be invited for a personal interview via SF Match.

We typically invite 10 applicants to interview with us.

During the interview process, you'll have opportunities to meet our current fellow and faculty members and learn about our training sites.

We look forward to helping you get acquainted with Buffalo and the friendly members of our department; we’ll take you out to dinner on the night of your interview.
