Senior Writer and Communications Officer / Office of the Vice President for Health Sciences and Dean
Dawn M. Cwierley, senior writer, serves as the communications officer for the Dean of Medicine and Vice President for Health Sciences. She is responsible for writing and developing compelling content for the dean’s various channels, including presentations, email, web, digital and social media.
She also oversees creation of the Insights electronic newsletter and works in collaboration with the Jacobs School communications team and senior leadership.
Cwierley joined the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2022, bringing with her more than 25 years of public relations, marketing and communications experience in the entertainment, legal and education industries. Most recently, she spent 14 years working with the Jacobs School’s health care partner, Catholic Health, where she oversaw communications for Kenmore Mercy Hospital, as well as the orthopedics service line, home care program and nursing homes.
Cwierley previously held positions at the Girl Scouts of Minnesota & Wisconsin River Valleys, Thomson Reuters, the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Rochester Broadway Theatre League. She is an active community volunteer, serving in board positions with Amherst Youth & Recreation, as well as the Kenmore Village Improvement Association.
She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in communications/journalism from SUNY Brockport.
