Interim Director of Communications
Dawn M. Cwierley serves as the interim director of communications for the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, bringing more than 30 years of communications experience across health care, education, legal and entertainment sectors.
Cwierley continues in her role as the dean’s communications officer while stepping into the interim director position, ensuring continuity and alignment with institutional priorities.
Since joining the school in 2022, she has been a trusted advisor to leadership, serving as the dean’s principal writer and shaping executive communications, major presentations, and core platforms including The Pulse, UB Medicine magazine, and the UB Medicine podcast. She also contributed significantly to the school’s gun violence prevention conference, guiding communications strategy and engagement.
Before coming to UB, Cwierley spent 14 years in health care communications at Catholic Health, leading communications for Kenmore Mercy Hospital and major service lines.
She holds a Bachelor of Science in communications/journalism from SUNY Brockport.
