Our Strategic Plan

The Department of Medicine has developed a strategic plan to expand specialty clinical services and attract exceptional residents, fellows and faculty to the area.

The three-year plan calls for building a clinical practice that will be a major regional provider of patient-centered care.

The department will expand specialty clinical services in internal medicine, geriatrics and medicine-pediatrics, and develop its subspecialties including cardiology, endocrinology, nephrology, pulmonary, critical care, sleep medicine, gastroenterology, hepatology and nutrition.

In addition, the department will:

  • expand clinical and translational research through investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored clinical trials
  • build on its strong partnerships with area hospitals to deliver inpatient and outpatient care
  • attract and retain talented faculty and staff
  • forge a strong departmental identity founded on excellence, collaboration and innovation

Achieving these goals will help the department serve as a regional magnet while improving health care throughout the community.
