Erie County Medical Center

This 550-bed medical center is one of the area’s leading health care providers. It serves as a regional center for trauma, burns, rehabilitation and cardiac care and is the region’s largest safety-net hospital.

Located on the eastern side of Buffalo, this 550-bed acute care center admits patients from the local urban area, as well as a wide referral range that encompasses all eight counties of Western New York. Erie County Medical Center (ECMC) is a regional center for trauma, burn, rehabilitation and cardiac care.

Case presentations span the range of disease states in internal medicine and general surgery, with many critically ill cases.

As part of your outpatient rotation, you may spend four to eight hours per week at ECMC, working with a distinct, widely varying patient population.

This facility gives you extensive patient exposure: You will participate in 30 to 50 procedures and assess 15 to 25 patients while on the service.
