This one-day academic event taking place on October 9th, 2025, will convene a select group of national and international leaders in intensive care, pulmonology, cardiology, and respiratory therapy to examine the emerging role of negative pressure ventilation (NPV) in the management of pediatric and adult respiratory failure, cardiac conditions, and chronic home ventilation.

Exploring NPV in Pediatric and Critical Care

This multi-institutional symposium brings together experts from across the country and abroad to discuss the evolving use of negative pressure ventilation (NPV) and biphasic cuirass ventilation (BCV) in pediatric and critical care settings. The event explores a wide range of clinical applications and research areas for NPV, including:

  • Use of NPV in managing complex congenital conditions, such as Fontan physiology & cardiac ICU care
  • Applications in acute respiratory failure and severe asthma exacerbations
  • Insights from Pediatric Intensive Care Units on the need for a patient registry to guide best practices
  • Role of NPV during pandemics, with reflections on its utility during COVID-19
  • Considerations for NPV in neuromuscular disorders and its integration into homecare, subacute, and hospice care settings

The event highlights emerging evidence, clinical experiences, and future directions for expanding the safe and effective use of NPV across diverse patient populations and care environments.

Detailed agenda will be released soon.
