Welcome to the University at Buffalo Anesthesiology Residency Program!
As the only anesthesiology program in Western New York’s largest medical network, residents gain robust clinical training across a diverse range of hospital systems. These included a high-volume cardiac and neuro center, a Level I trauma hospital, a nationally ranked cancer institute, a VA Medical Center, and one of the few freestanding children’s hospitals in the country with high-risk obstetric care. This breadth ensures that our graduates are not only well-rounded but are prepared to lead, whether they pursue fellowship, private practice, or academic careers.
But what truly sets us apart is how rapidly our program is evolving to meet the needs of today's residents. Over the past year, we’ve launched several exciting new initiatives designed with residents’ growth in mind:
These changes stem from one simple idea: resident voices count. Our program leadership works closely with residents to co-create a training environment that is not only rigorous but also rewarding, supportive, and forward-thinking.
Outside the hospital, Buffalo offers an exceptional quality of life. Known as the City of Good Neighbors, it’s an affordable, welcoming, and vibrant place to live. Enjoy waterfront sunsets, professional sports (Go Bills!), and quick getaways to Niagara Falls, the Finger Lakes, and Toronto. Buffalo delivers all four seasons, a true community vibe, and an ideal home base for both your training and life outside of medicine.
We’re excited to meet you and even more excited to grow with you. Thank you for considering UB Anesthesiology!. We hope to see you on campus, in the OR, and maybe even at a Bills tailgate soon.
Warmly,
Pete Natalzia and Andrew Ford
