Student Associations, Activities, Etc

Students in both the junior and senior classes are automatically members of the Medical Laboratory Science Student Association. In the past this association has been recognized by and received funding from the University Student Association (SA). The positions of president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer are held by senior students. Previous activities have included a joint class picnic and several pizza lunches.

In the past the senior class has organized activities, such as end-of-year picnic, volunteer activities, etc. The Senior class has traditionally held an end-of-the-year recognition banquet & ceremony. Monies to finance these activities have come from activities such as bake sales, raffles, and the sale of sweatshirts and candy; students must pay the difference.

Many free and very low-cost activities exist on campus. These are funded by the mandatory student comprehensive fee / student activity fees which are included in a student’s e-tuition bill. Examples are:

• Distinguished speaker series, author readings, lectures.
• Music concerts, art exhibits.
  
• September Welcome Activities.
• Intramural athletics/gym facilities.
• Life workshops, career preparation workshops.
