This award is established in memory of Daniel Kubik, CNMT, a remarkable student of the nuclear medicine technology (NMT) program at the University at Buffalo.
Kubik graduated in 2022 and, shortly thereafter, lost a valiant battle with cancer.
Despite facing extraordinary challenges, he exemplified exceptional dedication, perseverance, and professionalism, even while undergoing cancer treatment.
This award is a tribute to his indomitable spirit, intended to recognize a student who embodies Kubik’s commendable qualities.
Open to all NMT students in their senior year within UB's NMT program.
Candidates are invited to submit an essay, not exceeding two pages, which reflects on their perseverance and embodiment of the virtues demonstrated by Daniel Kubik throughout their tenure in the NMT program.
Essays should be sent to Egon W. Fast, MEd, the NMT program director, between March 1 and April 1.
The recipient of the Daniel Kubik CNMT Memorial Award will receive a certificate of recognition from the Department of Nuclear Medicine.
Additionally, the awardee will be granted reimbursement for the Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board examination fees.
The honoree’s name will also be inscribed on the Daniel Kubik Memorial Award plaque, which is proudly displayed in the Founders Room at the Department of Nuclear Medicine.
The award will be formally presented during the NMT program’s graduation ceremony in mid-May, celebrating the recipient’s outstanding character and achievements.
“I cannot say enough superlatives about Dan Kubik. He was the kind of student that every program director hopes and wishes for! He was hard working, yet always had time for a kind word and was always willing to help others. He was driven to learn all he could about the profession of nuclear medicine technology and the profession has truly lost a bright star. I will miss him dearly and the profession will miss all that he could have brought to it.”
