Reproductive Endocrinology

During this third-year rotation, you will work one-on-one with Reproductive Endocrinology Division faculty to gain experience in the management of infertility and reproductive endocrine disorders.

This one-month module will take place at Buffalo Infertility & IVF Associates where you will observe and learn to assist in a number of reproductive-based technology procedures.

You will also learn how to interpret tests used in the evaluation of infertility and ovulation induction protocols.

Procedures Learned

  • artificial insemination
  • transvaginal ultrasound oocyte monitoring and retrieval
  • intrauterine embryo transfer

Conditions Seen

In addition to common infertility disorders, you will learn to evaluate and manage:

  • polycystic ovarian syndrome
  • primary and secondary amenorrhea
  • thyroid disorders
  • Cushing’s disease
  • endometriosis
  • recurrent pregnancy loss
  • congenital reproductive tract abnormalities

Caseload

  • 15 to 18 patients each day
