Core Facilities

Stem Cell Culture, Banking and Training

Ivanna Ihnatovych.

Researchers at UB, including Ivanna Ihnatovych, use our facility for innovative studies. Our services include training courses on stem cell culture and consultation on the differentiation of stem cells to cell types.

We maintain and bank stem cells and provide stem cells and training to researchers interested in using them in their projects.

Our facility offers:

  • feeder cell isolation and propagation
  • expansion and banking of stem cell lines and culturing of stem cells; provision of pluripotent stem cells to investigators
  • consultation on the differentiation of stem cells to particular cell types
  • short training courses on stem cell culture for UB and other investigators
  • hoods, incubators and certified reagents for stem cell culturing by investigators

We are also working on the development of:

  • Western New York bio-bank for schizophrenia induced pluripotent stem cells
  • gene editing protocols for stem cells (CRISPR/Cas)
  • brain organoid cultures from stem cells

This core facility is one of four stem cell research facilities maintained by WNYSTEM.
