  • John R. Border Memorial Lectureship

    Dr. Border earned international acclaim as an authority on trauma care patients. In the early 1970’s, he led a team of UB researchers in developing treatment plans to prevent the stress of severe, multiple trauma from producing a chain of biochemical events that, if not treated with combination protein and glucose therapy, could lead to death. His pioneering work continues to save thousands of accident and injury victims from multiple‐system organ failure. Much of the lifesaving research over the years was funded at UB through grants from the National Institute of General Medical Services.
  • Jack C. Fisher Plastic Surgery Lectureship

    Dr. Fisher is Emeritus Professor of Surgery and former Head of the Division of Plastic Surgery at UC San Diego. He graduated from the University of Buffalo School of Medicine in 1962. Dr. Fisher has authored or co-authored more than 200 published works that have enhanced the fields of transplantation immunity, chronic wound healing, reconstructive burn surgery, repair of congenital deformities, and biomaterials tolerance.
  • Syde A. Taheri Lectureship

    Dr. Syde A. Taheri is known nationally and internationally for his multiple inventions. He is one of the co-inventors of the Talent Endovascular Aortic Stent Grafts, primarily now used in its thoracic role, as well as significant contributions to venous valve surgery and disease.
