Faculty Recruiting

Dr. Martinez and colleague.

Education, Lectures, and Faculty Recruitment is our top priority

Our office supports the school’s commitment to attract, hire and develop faculty to increase excellence in academic and clinical medicine through diversity and inclusion; to increase health and wellness across the life span; and to educate tomorrow’s leaders in healthcare and biomedical sciences, innovative research and outstanding clinical care.

We provide consultation, advice and support to departments to enrich the pool of faculty candidates through dialogues with search committees, implementation of best practices, access to training and resources, and expanded outreach.

Our services include:

  • Search Strategies
    7/23/26
We are available to meet with department chairs and search committees to discuss recruitment strategies, objectives, challenges or opportunities specific to the department and discipline.
  • Best Practices for Faculty and Staff Recruitment
    7/23/26
We’ve compiled a comprehensive collection of resources and training materials from universities and professional organizations to support effective recruitment and professional development at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. These best practices and strategies are designed to help attract and retain outstanding faculty and staff from diverse backgrounds.
  • Advertising and Outreach
    7/23/26
As part of our charge to support faculty recruitment and enrich candidate pools, the initiatives described below supplement and expand upon advertising and outreach conducted by individual search committees.
  • Funding
    7/23/26
The State University of New York (SUNY) Faculty Diversity Program provides partial salary support to outstanding scholars from different backgrounds, including those from groups historically underrepresented in higher education.
  • Diversity Advocates Program
    7/23/26
Through this program, faculty members serve as champions for diversity and inclusion within their respective departments, and as their department liaison to the Office Cultural Enhancement and Inclusion.
  • Job Opportunities at the Jacobs School
    7/23/26
At Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, we believe that diversity and excellence go hand in hand. Your unique experiences, talents, and perspectives contribute to our inclusive environment, and will strengthen our ability to serve our students, our patients, and our diverse local community.
  • Faculty Policies
