This award honors a resident or fellow who demonstrates excellence in patient care. Nominees must have an established record of exemplary humanistic, patient- and family-centered care as evidenced by letters of support from peers and program leaders, faculty, peer and student evaluations, and complementary activities (such as volunteerism or quality-improvement activities to promote patient-centeredness).
Residents and fellows currently training in one of our ACGME-accredited programs are eligible for nomination.
Letters of support should include evidence or examples of excellence in patient care. This may include quantitative or qualitative information from evaluations, specific examples of patient- and family-centered care, or descriptions of patient-centered quality improvement activities, or volunteerism.
A minimum of two narratives must be submitted.
The nomination should address each item listed in the award criteria (3-page maximum per narrative) and cite examples to support each criteria statement.
One letter of support is required from both:
Other supporting material not addressed in the letters of support (such as letters from patients or families or hospital personnel)
Up to $500 for distribution among one or more recipients.
