We will recruit 12 students into our BRIGHT short-term training program every year.
Are you an undergraduate or master’s student?
Do you have exceptional academic records; a strong interest in learning about biomedical informatics and data science; and a desire to pursue continued research, graduate programs, and/or a career in biomedical informatics?
If so, we hope you will apply; you’re the kind of applicant we seek.
Programming skills are not a prerequisite. Applicants with prior data science experience are eligible for acceptance into our program.
We seek candidates with background experience/knowledge in engineering, mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, psychology, sociology or public health.
However, if you’re studying outside of these disciplines with outstanding academic merits and passion for biomedical informatics and data science, we encourage you to apply.
Diverse perspectives and experiences enrich the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
Underserved populations in the United States have been historically underrepresented and underserved in the STEM fields. Our goal is to expose as many students as possible to the STEM fields of biomedical informatics and data science.
We will accept applications year round with an expectation that most undergraduate and master’s students will want to participate in the program during the summer semester.
Our criteria for selecting the 12 annual trainees will be based on the following required application materials:
