UB Family Medicine in Amherst.

Make a positive impact on patient care as you train with our expert faculty in a thriving suburban practice and community hospital.

Family Medicine Center

As a resident on our suburban/Millard Fillmore – UB Family Medicine Amherst track, your longitudinal outpatient training takes place in UB Family Medicine of Amherst, a nationally recognized patient-centered medical home.

Supervised by our faculty, you’ll follow a panel of families and spend an increasing amount of time here as your residency progresses. The diagnoses you make will cover the breadth of acute and chronic illness, including mental health conditions.

You’ll have plenty of time built into your schedule to gain proficiency in a number of outpatient procedures, including vasectomies.

Inpatient Service

When your patients are admitted, you’ll care for them at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital, located just one mile from your family medicine center. You and your peers will serve as the hospital’s only primary care residents, so you’ll benefit from ample patient interactions.

What’s more, you’ll enjoy a diverse training experience as you care for patients not only on the medical floors and the telemetry unit but throughout the hospital, including the intensive care unit. Outside of your surgery rotation, you’ll gain additional experience in interventional radiology procedures.

Your inpatient service rotation at Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital accounts for 16 weeks in your PGY-1, PGY-2 and PGY-3 years.

Your rotations and elective schedules are the same as those of your peers on our two urban tracks.
