Our residency pathways allow interested residents to focus on their individual professional goals through comprehensive curricula, specialized opportunities and direct faculty mentorship.

Currently Offered Pathways

Our program currently offers Cardiology, Geriatrics and Residents as Educators pathways, with the goal of adding more in the coming years.

  • Cardiology

    The cardiology pathway provides our residents with the opportunity to enhance their residency training with a broader and more in-depth range of experiences in cardiovascular medicine.
  • Geriatrics

    The Geriatrics Pathway provides our residents with a unique opportunity to enhance their residency training with additional and individualized experiences and skill training in providing care for older adults. 
  • Primary Care

    The Primary Care Pathway provides selected residents with a unique opportunity to enhance their residency training with additional experiences and preparation in providing comprehensive care for adults in the outpatient setting.
  • Pulmonary

    In accordance with the dean’s and university president’s guidance to foster an environment of scholarly activities and advance research and education at UB, the Internal Medicine Residency Program have partnered with the Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine Fellowship Program and developed a training pathway for those interested in career in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine academics. Goals are set to nourish and develop those interested in being academicians and/or Clinicians in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine.
