Have you thought about seeking some research experience? Are you interested in pediatrics, child development, psychology and/or nutrition? The Child Health and Behavior Lab (HABLAB) at the University at Buffalo is looking for one or two medical student research interns for summer 2023.
These research experiences would be under the leadership of Stephanie Anzman-Frasca, PhD, who conducts laboratory- and community-based studies in the area of children’s eating behavior and obesity prevention.
Students will have the opportunity to work with study participants (e.g., parents and children). The focus of the internship would likely be in the area of healthy eating among families in restaurants and/or promoting healthy grocery shopping among families with obesity, with final project(s) determined based on fit.
A possible example of a medical student research intern’s tasks could be: about 10 hours per week would be spent assisting with data collection for the UB Restaurant Study, which aims to make healthy choices easier in local restaurant settings, with the remaining hours taking place in our laboratory on UB's South Campus.
These hours could include other research tasks such as materials preparation, literature searching, or data coding and processing. There is room for interns to explore other areas of potential interest.
You can find information about all of our projects here.
Interns will work full time between May 30-Aug. 5, 2023. Interns will be asked to complete some limited training activities prior to the start of this period and to work some evenings/weekends during the internship period to facilitate engagement with participants.
