The Division of Child Psychiatry at Oishei Children’s Hospital (OCH) and the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine is excited to announce the availability of two postdoctoral fellowships in psychology for the 2025-2026 academic year.
Although fellows will primarily be working within their track, they will have opportunities to participate in minor rotations throughout the year that include OCH inpatient consultation and liaison, OCD and eating disorders clinic, behavioral medicine clinic, child and adolescent assessment clinic, and our mobile psychiatry clinic.
Regular individual supervision will be provided as well as weekly didactics and hospital grand rounds. Fellows can expect active mentoring with a focus on professional and career development, as well as development of clinical skills to prepare them for a career in child psychology. Fellows will also have opportunities to supervise other treatment providers, such as psychology interns and practicum students.
The position is one year in duration. Positions are open to graduates from APA approved doctoral programs that have completed their internship training. Applicants should have a background in behavioral, as well as cognitive-behavioral assessment/treatment, and experience in clinical child psychology. Fellows receive a benefits package that includes health insurance, paid holidays, sick and personal leave, and use of University facilities.
The fellow will gain experience in the assessment, diagnosis, and evidence-based treatment of OCD, working largely within our TEMPO (Treatment for the Effective Management of Pediatric OCD) clinic. This clinic serves patients ages 4-21 who have a primary diagnosis of OCD.
Fellows will maintain an outpatient psychotherapy caseload as well as serve as a therapist in our OCD Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Eating Disorder IOP.
The fellowship provides extensive training and supervision in the provision in Exposure Response Prevention (ERP) based treatments for patients with a variety of clinical presentations.
The fellow will gain experience working within our interdisciplinary C/L team providing assessment, intervention, and C/L services on inpatient medical floors.
The fellowship provides focused training in pediatric health psychology that can be tailored to the fellow’s interests and career goals. The fellow will participate in interdisciplinary rounds, provide consultation to interdisciplinary treatment teams, assess for harm to self or others, and provide time-limited, focused treatment of medical treatment adherence and childhood psychological disorders (e.g, eating disorders, anxiety, FNSD).
The fellow will also maintain a small outpatient therapy caseload in our Child Psychiatry Clinic at OCH. There is no weekend or evening call in this position.
