20 Faculty Members Join 10 Medical School Departments

Gurmat Gill, DO, is a clinical assistant professor of medicine. Gill earned a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Takefumi Komiya, MD, is a clinical associate professor of medicine.

He has experience in translational research, and is attempting to develop a novel treatment for lung cancer by conducting investigator-initiated trials with immunotherapy and thoracic oncology.

Komiya completed an internal medicine residency at Howard University and a fellowship in medical oncology from the National Institutes of Health National Cancer Institute. He earned his medical degree from Kagoshima University in Japan.

Ahmad Z. Mohamed, MD, PhD, is a clinical assistant professor of urology.

He specializes in pediatric urology.

He earned his medical degree and a doctoral degree in urology, both from Cairo University.

He completed a fellowship in pediatric urology at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus, Ohio.

Shreya S. Prabhu, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology.

As a pediatric ophthalmologist, she provides comprehensive care for childhood eye problems.

She completed a residency in ophthalmology and a fellowship in pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus, both from the University of Michigan Kellogg Eye Center. She earned her medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine.

Meghan R. Rochester, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of medicine.

Her clinical interests include women’s health and metabolic syndrome, with an appreciation of the longitudinal nature of primary care.

She completed her residency at the University of Washington.

She earned her medical degree from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry.

Elana Tal, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of obstetrics and gynecology.

Her practice involves providing comprehensive care to patients throughout their lifetime, including preventive health care, low- and high-risk pregnancy care and management of gynecologic issues. She completed a residency at Pennsylvania Hospital and a fellowship in complex family planning at Washington University in St. Louis. She earned her medical degree from Vanderbilt University.

John P. Bonnewell, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine. He completed fellowships in medical microbiology and infectious diseases from Duke University and did his residency in internal medicine at Brown University. He earned his medical degree from the University of Louisville.

Mayada Ismail, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine. Ismail completed a residency in internal medicine at Cleveland Clinic Akron General and a fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center. She earned her medical degree from the Ross University School of Medicine.

Natalie R. Kappus, DO, is an assistant professor of medicine. Kappus completed a fellowship in endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism from the Jacobs School and her residency in internal medicine at New York University School of Medicine. She earned her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Jeannie M. Padowski, MD, is a clinical associate professor of pharmacology and toxicology. Padowski earned a doctoral degree from the University of North Carolina.

Matthew Albanese, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of orthopaedics.

Michael R. DiGiacomo, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry.
