Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

Review the chart on the Required Certifications page to determine if ACLS is required for your program. You must arrive at orientation with proof of valid ACLS certification. Failure to do so may delay your training program start date.

ACLS Resources

The ACLS course is a two-day course and must be American Heart Association-compliant. Below are two resources provided by UB-affiliated hospitals. You may access additional resources as long as they are AHA-compliant and completed in person.

  1. Click on “AHA Courses” on the left-hand menu
  2. Click on the Residents Only combo class. Click “BOOK”
  3. In the Participant Drop Down, select “Non-ECMC Employee”

Cost: $125. Cash or checks payable to Buffalo CPR and mailed to ECMC, 462 Grider Street, Buffalo, NY 14215.

Incoming Residents and Fellows Only (2025)

Three combined BLS/ ACLS courses have been set up at ECMC on the following dates:

  • June 6
  • June 13
  • June 20

Follow the above instructions to register.

ACLS Reimbursement Information

Incoming Residents and Fellows

ACLS reimbursement will be provided for an initial certification course not to exceed $125.00. Reimbursement will only be made for trainees whose program requires ACLS certification. Reimbursement will be made for actual course cost if less than $125.00. If you hold a current ACLS certification, but it will expire within 30 days of the start of training, you are eligible to take and be reimbursed for a one-day recertification course, not to exceed $85.00. Completed courses must include an in-person portion; online only courses are not accepted and will be denied.

Current Residents and Fellows

ACLS reimbursement for current residents and fellows can be applied for via the Resident and Fellow Education and Professional Development Fund
