Microsoft 365 is a collection of productivity apps that you can use anywhere.  The suite includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, Microsoft Teams and more.   

Prepare for your Exchange Online Migration

Exchange Migrations

OMC is beginning to facilitate the migration of users to Exchange Online email.  Your department will be notified of your migration date via email.  

UB-Owned Windows PCs

  • If your device connects to a UB network at a UBMD or UB site, you will NOT need to make any changes to your device prior to the migration.
  • If you are working from home on a UB-owned device, please make sure that you are connecting to the pre-login VPN and then logging into your device with SMBS credentials.

Personally-Owned Windows PCs

  • If you are using a personally-owned device and you are checking UB email via Outlook, you will need to make a change to the registry PRIOR to your migration date.

UB-Owned and Personally-Owned Macs

  • You will not need to make any changes to your Mac prior to migration.

Morning after your Exchange migration

UB-Owned Windows PCs

  • Exit out of Jabber, Webex and Outlook
  • You will be prompted to log into Outlook on your computer with your UB credentials again.  You will also be prompted to complete Duo two-step verification if you have a faculty or staff appointment.  

UB-Owned and Personally-Owned Macs

Mac Mail

  • Delete the old Exchange account by going to Mail > Preferences > Accounts  
  • Add the Exchange account back by clicking the "+"

Outlook

  • Delete the old Exchange account by going to Outlook > Preferences > Accounts
  • Select your account, then press the delete key.  
  • Add a new Exchange account. Enter your @buffalo.edu email address
  • Click Continue > Choose Office 365 as a provider > Click Sign in > Accept the permissions.  

iOS Devices

After your account is migrated, you will need to remove your email account from your phone and re-add it.

Android Devices

After your account is migrated, you will need to remove your email account from your phone and re-add it. 

If you have any trouble accessing your email after your account is migrated, you can use Outlook Web App to check your email.
