K. Kent Chevli, MD, has been appointed clinical professor and chair of the Department of Urology and president of the UBMD Urology practice plan.
Michael E. Cain, MD, vice president for health sciences and dean of the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences, announced the appointments, which were effective Nov. 19.
“Dr. Chevli has the administrative, clinical and leadership skills needed to move the Department of Urology forward, expand its translational and clinical research programs, maintain its graduate medical education and mentored research training programs and develop and align a comprehensive clinical program at Great Lakes Health and in the community,” Cain said.
Chevli currently serves as president of Western New York Urology and treasurer of the Kaleida Health medical staff.
He has served as the chair/board member of the Great Lakes Health Professional Steering Committee and as director of Kaleida Health oncology services.
Chevli was a volunteer faculty member in the Department of Urology from 1997 to 2018.
He also served as adjunct assistant professor of oncology at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center. Chevli is board certified by the American Board of Urology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons.
Chevli completed his residencies in surgery and urology at the University of Louisville School of Medicine. He earned his medical degree from Saint Louis University School of Medicine and an undergraduate degree in chemical engineering from Washington University in St. Louis.
His professional memberships include the American Medical Association, the American Urology Association and the American Board of Urology.
Chevli has also presented abstracts and posters at national meetings and has had articles published in professional publications.
His research interests have been in prostate cancer and he is a past recipient of the Department of Urology’s Faculty Teaching Award.
