New Faculty Join Four Medical School Departments

Ten faculty members with clinical and research experience have joined the departments of Medicine, Pediatrics, Ophthalmology and Surgery at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.

Vlad Diaconita, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of ophthalmology.

He completed a vitreoretinal surgery fellowship at Columbia University and an ophthalmology residency at Western University in London, Ontario.

Diaconita received his medical degree from Western University.

He is double-board certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

Diaconita continues to be active in clinical trials of macular degeneration, diabetes and vein occlusion treatment, as well as novel delivery systems for gene therapy.

Iram Ashraf, MD, is a child abuse pediatrician in the Department of Pediatrics.

Michael Bowler, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of pediatric critical care in the Department of Pediatrics.

Lauren Bruckner, MD, PhD, is a pediatric hematologist in the Department of Pediatrics.

Anthony S. Dakwar, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of surgery.

Ravi B. Doobay, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine.

Paul M. Hoffman, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine.

Prantesh Jain, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine.

Sehrish Jamot, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine.

Duncan B. Johnstone, MD, PhD, is an associate professor of medicine.
