Core Topics

We encourage you to actively participate in this conference, which covers the topics you need to know to master the American Board of Internal Medicine’s certification exam in cardiovascular disease.

Curriculum Draws from ACCSAP

Most of the year, faculty and fellows lead a discussion on a didactic topic from the American College of Cardiology’s Self-Assessment Program (ACCSAP).

The topics we cover include:

  • coronary artery disease
  • acute coronary syndromes
  • congestive heart failure
  • arrhythmias
  • valvular heart disease
  • congenital heart disease
  • vascular disease
  • pulmonary hypertension
  • pericardial disease
  • preventative cardiology

During the summer, we diverge from the ACCSAP curriculum to cover topics helpful to incoming fellows and important for our senior fellows to review. This includes a procedural simulation experience at the Behling Human Simulation Center.

As a fellow in our program, you receive free online access to all of the American College of Cardiology’s board-prep activities and other educational resources through CardioSource Plus, the most authoritative and comprehensive professional resource on cardiovascular medicine.
