The Department of Anesthesiology welcomes enthusiastic physicians who are interested in an innovative, educational, solid clinical experience and a broad spectrum of investigational opportunities through our clinical scholars program.

We are dedicated to excellence in biochemical research problems, with faculty members actively pursuing exciting research problems. As part of this effort, faculty members train graduate students to assume full partnership in research within a chosen area of biochemistry.

Genetics, Genomics and Bioinformatics

We mentor innovative and creative scientists, emphasizing the “how and why” of genetics, genomics and bioinformatics research and its broader significance. We give you the specialized knowledge and research skills needed to contribute to drug discovery, animal development and the burgeoning fields of personalized and regenerative medicine.

Microbiology and Immunology

We offer several predoctoral and postdoctoral training programs in a variety of research areas. These educational programs provide a solid training background; predoctoral and postdoctoral programs are based on state-of-the-art research conducted in the laboratories of the departmental faculty.

Our Division of Infectious Diseases offers a comprehensive fellowship training program in infectious diseases that is accredited by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Fellows are exposed to intensive training in clinical infectious diseases in addition to state-of-the-art laboratory or clinical research.

Oral Biology

We foster high quality research in oral and craniofacial health science, engage postdoctoral, graduate, dental and undergraduate students in the creation, dissemination and application of knowledge; and encourage achievement for members of the department in a supportive and congenial environment.
