• All SURF scholars become members of ASPET
• Opportunity to win a travel award to attend ASPET Conference

• introduction to Laboratory Skills Course
• weekly BIOSTEM lecture*
• mentored research communications workshops to work on posters and oral talks*
• present poster and oral talks at Research Days*
• complete evaluation at end of summer*
• research in areas of drug discovery and translational research
• discipline-specific research, career, professional development and networking by SURF director and research mentors

Students work with expert faculty research mentors in the departments of:

• Pharmacology and Toxicology (Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences)
• Pharmaceutical Sciences (School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences)

Students are funded by an American Society of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics grant and matching funds by Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and University at Buffalo School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.
