Our dedicated, internationally recognized faculty, unique research facilities and innovative clinical programs prepare you for success, whether you plan an academic career or intend to enter clinical practice.
Dedicated, Individualized Mentoring
You’ll be supported by strong formal mentoring programs and a friendly, open-door culture, whether you’re looking for advice on advice on research or help building your teaching or clinical career.
Our school’s system of affiliated hospitals and clinics gives you a practical, well-rounded base of experience. You’ll learn to collaborate and communicate with professionals throughout the health care system, manage information in multiple electronic health records systems and treat patients from many different backgrounds.
Our faculty, residents and fellows conduct award-winning research in diverse areas. Our specialized labs, journal clubs, academic rounds and day-to-day conversations bring together researchers at all levels from across our divisions and outside our department.
Through a long-standing tradition of engaged, active research and clinical work, our department has built rich ties to the community. During your training, you’ll coordinate frequently with social workers, educators, legal professionals and more.
Residents on our medical educator track conduct curriculum-based research, generating proposals we’ve integrated into our standard curriculum. We also offer specialized coursework in response to our students’ interests and needs.
To help our residents understand the benefits and limitations of pharmaceutical treatment, we connect you with industry representatives and their research through an annual pharmaceutical symposium, grand rounds and resident rounds. We also host an annual psychiatry conference that draws a national audience.
