We offer two interested students a clinical rotation experience in psychiatry during the summer between first and second year.
Participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the practice of clinical psychiatry through a one-month rotation experience designed to capture the broad scope of mental health care. They will observe psychiatric practice in a wide variety of settings, including, but not limited to, inpatient, outpatient, intensive outpatient, and emergency psychiatry. They will also participate in debriefing sessions with the externship directors to process clinical experiences and to be familiarized with foundational psychiatric concepts in anticipation of the formal psychiatric didactic module in second year. Applicants should have a strong interest in the field of psychiatry, though no formal past psychiatric or psychological experience is required.
The program typically runs the month of June.
There is a stipend of $1500.
You must apply by April 1.
Please email both the Director and the Associate Director for Medical Student Education the following application along with an updated copy of your CV.
