Inpatient Services

Inpatient services at ECMC give you opportunities to rotate through three different adult psychiatric units, one of which is a dedicated geriatric psychiatry unit.

Along with other psychiatric residents, you will work with medical students, occupational therapy students and nursing students on this teaching unit.

Diagnoses include:

  • psychotic disorders, including schizophrenia (40 percent)
  • major depression (21 percent)
  • bipolar disorder (20 percent)
  • anxiety disorders (10 percent)
  • cognitive disorders (8 percent)
  • other disorders (1 percent)

About 50 percent of all patients also have a comorbid substance use disorder.
