Dear colleagues and friends,

I am pleased to share news that UB’s medical residents and fellows have voted to ratify a three-year contract which will provide salary increases to achieve wage parity with peer institutions, as well as funding to offset health care costs and support for professional development opportunities.

I am grateful that this agreement has been reached between University Medical Resident Services, P.C. (UMRS) and the Union of American Physicians and Dentists (UAPD). My sincere thanks to everyone who participated in this process to find an agreeable solution for all.

With this agreement in place, the Jacobs School, UMRS, and our hospital partners remain committed to providing outstanding training and educational opportunities for our current and future residents. We value their dedication to service and learning as they prepare for long and fruitful careers as physicians committed to improving lives in Western New York and beyond.

Moving forward together, let us continue to uphold our shared mission to providing outstanding health care to our community.

Warm regards,
