Pediatric Orthopaedics

This elective focuses on the pathophysiology, basic science and clinical course of orthopaedic injuries in children.

You’ll learn how to evaluate and manage pediatric musculoskeletal injuries and conditions, including growth plate fractures and developmental problems.

You’ll gain an appreciation for the differences in musculoskeletal conditions in kids and adults and the special expertise required to treat still-growing patients.

To gain additional experience with urgent and emergent orthopedics, you may take call with the attending physician.

Patient Population

  • children ages 5-18
  • common diagnoses: growth plate fractures, developmental problems
