Our division investigates a range of serious diseases and conditions; we have made significant contributions to research on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), health care associated pneumonia, respiratory muscle function and sleep apnea.
Our faculty members and fellows are engaged in innovative translational, clinical and basic research in many areas of pulmonary, critical care and sleep medicine. In our translational and basic work, we place emphasis on understanding disease processes in humans. Our clinical research covers everything from database and observational research to phase I-IV interventional studies.
