Cardiac Surgery

Working in one of the country’s top 15 cardiac surgery programs, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of pre- and postoperative considerations for cardiac patients as you observe common cardiac surgeries.

Supervised by a cardiac anesthesiologist, you’ll place Swan-Ganz catheters and perform intraoperative transesophageal echocardiograms. You’ll also have the opportunity to help perform temporary pacing in cardiac surgery patients.

Your observational experience extends to coronary artery bypass grafting and valve repairs and replacements, particularly of the aortic and mitral valves.
