The Milgrom award recognizes excellence in a postdoctoral fellow’s training record.
To be eligible, you must have completed one year’s term of training in the department by the nomination deadline.
The award will be based on your entire training record. An evaluation will be made by a departmental Selection Committee based on relevant information, including:
Applications are accepted from Aug. 1 to Sept. 1.
Postdoctoral fellows are nominated by their mentors.
The departmental Selection Committee will choose the awardee.
If you are selected as a recipient of the Milgrom award, we’ll notify you with a letter in the beginning of the fall semester.
The award will be formally presented at a seminar given by the recipient.

Felix Milgrom, MD, SUNY Distinguished Professor and former chair of the department, was an outstanding, internationally respected research scientist and teacher. He led the department for 18 years, expanding its research areas through faculty hires and the graduate program. He excelled in the training of postdoctoral fellows; many of his students went on to become outstanding academicians throughout the world.
To recognize expertise in the field, the department has established the Microbiology and Immunology Fellowship Award in Memory of Felix Milgrom, MD.
