22 Faculty Members Join 7 Medical School Departments

Twenty-two faculty members with a variety of clinical and research experience — representing seven medical school departments — have joined the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences over the past several months.

Ashley Alex, MD

Ashley Alex, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of neurology. She completed a fellowship in headache and facial pain at Montefiore Headache Center.

She completed the adult neurology residency at the Jacobs School and received her medical degree from the Jacobs School.

John Kruse, DO

John Kruse, DO, is a clinical instructor of emergency medicine.

He earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

 

Jonathan Lopez, MD

Jonathan Lopez, MD, is an assistant professor of neurology, whose primary clinical interests include comprehensive acute and chronic care for children and adults with epilepsy and seizures, electroencephalography and epilepsy surgery.

His research interests include quality of life in children with epilepsy, outcomes of children with drug-resistant epilepsy, epilepsy surgery and brain tumor-related epilepsy.

He completed fellowships in pediatric epilepsy at the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine and in clinical neurophysiology at the Stanford University School of Medicine.

Lopez completed residencies in child neurology at the Stanford University School of Medicine and in pediatrics at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center.

Brian Madow, MD

Brian Madow, MD, is director of retina service in the Department of Ophthalmology.

He completed a retina fellowship at Bascom Palmer Eye Institute and completed an internship at Cornell University.

Madow completed a residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pennsylvania and received his medical degree from the Medical University of Varna in Bulgaria.

Andrew R. Poreda, MD

Andrew R. Poreda, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine. He completed a fellowship in emergency medical services at the Jacobs School and a residency in emergency medicine at SUNY Upstate Medical University.

He earned his medical degree at SUNY Medical Upstate University.

Poreda has been involved in prehospital care for more than 20 years, beginning in the volunteer fire service and as a professional emergency medical technician.

Kavya Rao, MD

Kavya Rao, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics.

She earned her medical degree from Kasturba Medical College International Center in India.

Pedro Rivera-Hernandez, MD

Pedro Rivera-Hernandez, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics.

He completed a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the Jacobs School. He completed a residency in pediatrics at Cooper University Hospital in Camden, New Jersey.

Rivera-Hernandez received his medical degree from San Juan Bautista School of Medicine.

Tracy L. Rostholder, DO

Tracy L. Rostholder, DO, is a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics.

She completed a residency in pediatrics at NYU Winthrop Hospital and earned her doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Magdalena A. Bax, DO, is a clinical assistant instructor of emergency medicine.

Paul E. DeJac, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine.

Adam Dworkin, MD, is a clinical instructor of emergency medicine.

Michael S. Ferguson, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine.

Jesse Fodero, MD, is a clinical instructor of emergency medicine.

Sharmila Ghosh, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of pathology and anatomical sciences.

Zeyar T. Htun, DO, is a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics.

He completed a fellowship in neonatal-perinatal medicine at University Hospitals/Case Western University — Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital.

Htun completed a residency in pediatrics at NYU Winthrop Hospital and earned his doctor of osteopathic medicine degree at Nova Southeastern University, College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Tammas Kelly, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of psychiatry.

Michael Mezzadri, MD, is a clinical instructor of emergency medicine.

Rachel A. Rafferty, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of pediatrics.

Daniel Sirica, MD, is a clinical assistant professor of neurology.

Timothy G. Szocki, DO, is a clinical instructor of emergency medicine.

Sumangaly Thambiaiyah, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine.

Stephanie Wodowski, DO, is a clinical assistant professor of emergency medicine.
